This is Pteris Rotundifolia by Anna Atkins from the 1850s. It is a cyanotype from her album Cyanotypes of British and Foreign Plants and Ferns. This pieces uses contrast to show the silhouette of a fern from Jamaica. It also is a dull blue color since it is a photographic blueprint. It is currently located in the MoMA.
This is Allover by Christian Marclay. It is also a cyanotype and was created in 2008 with magnetic tapes from music casettes. It is very interesting since he combines both music and visual art in one piece. It uses a monochromatic color palette and tons of intersecting lines. This is currently located in the MoMA too.
